It’s his passion to help firefighters stay safe in the line of duty. That’s why he’s so committed to his research and presentations.

If you’re a firefighter, you’ll love Starnes’s work! It just might save your life one day. Starnes has been published all over the internet and in the media for his fire research! You can find his work on sites such as Firefighter Close Calls.com! That brings us to Project Kill the Flashover, Starnes’s passion project. It started in 2011 as a casual conversation. Starnes and a friend were talking about mixing air track management with solution steams. The idea was that it would prevent thermal injuries during fire suppression.

The idea grew into a live burn test, which gave way to a 3 legged stool model. It involved:

  • Flow path
  • Solutions streams
  • Thermal imaging

Two years later in 2013, the stool model evolved to be:

  • Air track management
  • Enhanced water streams
  • Thermal data

Mission Statement

To prevent thermal injuries to firefighters during fire suppression duties
